Enhanced visual flow indicators unveiled with integrated measurement capabilities

03 April, 2024

Industrial components company, Elesa, has introduced its latest visual flow indicators, now equipped with PLCcompatible sensors and impeller-mounted activating clips. These upgrades transform the devices into active measurement tools, allowing for precise adjustment and monitoring of hydraulic system performance.

Available in 3/4 inch, 1-inch, 3/8 inch, and 1/2inch sizes, Elesa’s new metering indicators are designed to cater to a wide range of applications across various industries. They are ideal for fluid systems in processing plants, manufacturing facilities, and more. Compatible with mediums like water, oil, and petrochemicals, these indicators are also suitable for hygienic area systems where cooling or liquid transfer operations are critical.

Its visual flow indicator sensors can be easily mounted in any external position, aligning perfectly with the indicator tube. They operate seamlessly in two-way liquid flows with a viscosity below 30cSt. These axial flow devices integrate into the moving fluid, causing the rotor to spin and generate a pulsed signal. This signal, proportional to rotor speed, provides accurate flow rate data through calibration.

Proper propeller rotation is essential, as the minimum flow rate requirement may vary depending on the fluid’s type and viscosity. Beyond the minimum flow rate, the rotor synchronises with the fluid flow, while the detached inductive sensor detects the movement of the metal clips on the rotor. This mechanism results in a frequency variation that can be interpreted as a flow rate reading when connected to a PLC.

Constructed with a red (or optionally blue) Polypropylene-based (PP) technopolymer shaft and rotor propeller, coupled with AISI 304 stainless steel sensor activating clips, Elesa’s visual flow metering indicators ensure durability and reliability. The clear Borosilicate glass tubular housing offers high operational resistance and is suitable for use with glycol-based solutions.

Elesa says it remains committed to providing a comprehensive range of hydraulic system components, offering reliable and high-performance accessories to meet the demands of modern hydraulic systems.
