FLEXIBLE CRYOGENIC INSULATION

Specialist thermal insulation manufacturer ARMACELL is launching what it claims to be is an industry first with a low density thermal elastomeric foam insulation product which retains flexibility even at extreme cryogenic temperatures of -200°C. Cryogenic processes which utilise such low temperatures and require technical thermal insulation materials include the freeze drying of foods, metal alloy production utilising liquid nitrogen, and the manufacture of some pharmaceutical and chemical products. An area of growing significance is the freezing of large volumes of natural gas down to condensation temperatures (-162°C), with the resultant liquid gas then having a reduced volume of less than 0.17% of the gaseous product. The costs of both storage and transportation of natural gas in a liquid form (LNG) are therefore considerably reduced. Armacell high performance insulation systems maintain the cryotechnical validity of this process throughout, from initial production to final regasification where the gas is fed into pipework for eventual distribution to consumer markets. Armacell says it has an established reputation for the supply of consistent, high-quality engineered foam materials. This includes-NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) insulation products, suitable for refrigeration applications operating at temperatures down to -50°C. With the introduction of their cryogenic elastomeric insulation product range, known as Armaflex LTD, temperatures as low as -200°C can now be accommodated.

MOISTURE SOLUTIONS

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS, manufacturer of dew-point, relative humidity and oxygen analysis solutions, will be showcasing its range of dew-point and moisture-measurement products for compressed air applications at Airtech on stand A20. Michell produces a number of instruments designed to monitor dew point. The Easidew range is a series of dew-point transmitters for continual on-line monitoring. Capable of measuring dew-points as low as -100°C, the Easidew is available in a number of configurations. For spot-checks of moisture at any point on a system, Michell’s range of portable instruments are designed to make quick and simple measurements. Michell will also be featuring its range of relative humidity probes and sensors, designed for measuring higher levels of moisture as part of environmental control systems or in precision manufacturing.

PNEUMATIC GRIPPERS

CAMOZZI PNEUMATICS LTD has added a new range of pneumatic grippers to its portfolio of automation and motion control solutions. Series CGSN 180◦ angular grippers have been launched as part of a wider initiative which will lead to the redevelopment of the entire gripper range. Series CGSN is a high performance replacement for Camozzi’s current CGS Series and is available in four bore sizes (16, 20, 25 and 32mm). These new grippers are completely interchangeable with Series CGS and benefit from many new features which have been introduced to maximise reliability and quality. The entire gripper redevelopment programme was initiated following the acquisition of a specialist manufacturer of high precision machined parts by the Camozzi Group.

PRODUCTS FOR HEAVY INDUSTRY

The J D NEUHAUS company has been designing and manufacturing handling equipment for over two and a half centuries Its products, which now also include optional hydraulic powered operation, are used worldwide in all major heavy industries such as mining, oil and gas, construction, shipbuilding, steelworks and even aerospace related for handling rocket parts. With a range that covers lift capacities from 250kg up to a full 100 tonnes, it now offers high performance, reliable products, 100% duty rated, that can be used wherever light, medium or heavy industries require the safe lifting, moving and precise placement of loads. The Profi TI series hoists are suitable for surface and underground working, operating off air pressures of 4 or 6 bar, with hydraulically operated units also available. Lift capacities from 250kg up to 100 tonnes are available with traverse trolleys for overhead monorail operation also available for lift ratings up to 20 tonnes maximum capacity. These trolleys can be supplied for manual, reel chain and motorised traverse movements, with rack and pinion drives also available.

QUICK RELEASE COUPLINGS

Hydraulic components are often in need of pre-season maintenance, whether it’s leaks or an unexplained drop in pressure and spotting where hydraulic components need replacing can save valuable time. Choosing the right hydraulic couplings to connect implements and accessories can lengthen the time between repairs and reduce the costs of servicing. SENIOR APPOINTMENT

Ian Ritchie, managing director of BRAMMER, the UK distributor of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products and services, has an expanded remit to lead the recently acquired industrial tools, maintenance and health & safety product distributor Buck & Hickman, following its acquisition by Brammer plc. The combination of Brammer UK and Buck & Hickman brings together extensive capabilities and resources to create a complete one-stop shop for industrial MRO supply, operating from some 120 locations across the UK. The appointment will see Ian build on the significant growth and development that he has overseen at Brammer since his appointment as UK managing director in December 2003.
